Special Session: Next Generation of Affective Computing (NGAC)
Over the past few decades, there has been an exponential increase in the volume, velocity, and variety of multicultural big data generated from online platforms. This has led to growing challenges for artificial intelligence (AI) researchers to effectively extract hidden features for various intelligent systems including high-risk domains, such as medical diagnosis, financial loan applications, and autonomous driving. Most existing solutions to the big data are tailor-made for monolithic applications, that often lead to inaccurate performance when involved users come from different cultural backgrounds.
This timely special session aims to bring together world-leading cutting-edge research (from both academia and industry) on AI that can enhance the deeper understanding of psychological states and behaviors of people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This will require the insight from various computation techniques such as: Real-time multimodal acquisition/resolution/production/applications, Multi-media analysis, Multi-agent systems, Sparse data analytics, Data interpretability, Privacy preserving, Knowledge representation, Temporal reasoning, User modeling, Preference reasoning, and Optimization.
The core topics of this special section include but are not limited to:
- Facial expression and gesture recognition and analysis
- Speech recognition and analysis
- Sentiment analysis
- Emotion recognition and psychological analysis
- Behavior engagement estimation
- Mental health assessment
